Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a growing health concern worldwide, particularly among older adults. This paper aims to explore the often-overlooked psychological needs of older adults living with CKD. While the physical aspects of CKD management are well-documented, the psychological impact is less understood and addressed. We examine the various psychological challenges faced by this population, including depression, anxiety, stress, and adjustment issues. Additionally, we delve into the factors contributing to these challenges, such as the complex treatment regimen, the fear of dialysis or transplantation, and the social and economic implications of CKD. We also discuss the importance of an integrated and holistic approach to CKD care that includes psychological support. By addressing the psychological needs of older adults with CKD, we can improve their overall quality of life and enhance their ability to cope with this chronic condition.
